Join African Musical Arts as we kick off our 2015-2016 concert season!
"Music Saved from the Storm" is a concert featuring pianist Sunghee Hinners and IMI Chamber Players. The concert commemorates the ten years since Hurricane Katrina, a storm that nearly decimated a large portion of AMA's music archive manuscripts. Concert will feature music by Beethoven, William Grant-Still and our own St. Louis-based composer, Fred Onovwerosuoke. The event will also honor the memory of the late composer Lucius Weathersby who lost much of his music and passed away shortly after the storm.
The very lovely Kathy Lawton Brown recently had our staff and musicians in the studio at Radio Arts Foundation to discuss our concert, "Music Saved from the Storm." Click below to listen to the full interview.
TICKETS: Tickets are $15 for adults. Discounted tickets of $7 will be available for students and seniors at the door. Click the button below to purchase tickets.
SEASON SUBSCRIPTION: We are offering subscriptions to our entire season of concerts for a 15% discount. Subscriptions also include invitations to VIP rehearsals before performances, as well as a special donor reception. To purchase a season subscription click the button below.
All proceeds from our 2015-2016 concert season will go towards funding the African Performing Arts Exchange (or simply "The Exchange"), a newly proposed project from AMA.
ABOUT THE EXCHANGE: The Exchange will be an online music database for preserving and promoting music of African-descent composers. It will be a resource for students, musicians, music teachers and professors, and the general public.
